Sound For Sandwiches is the name for my audio engineering projects. The name comes from an arrangement I once had with a friend and cafe manager, who used to hire me to provide PA for spoken word events.
I'm mainly a musician, and like many sound engineers I know, fell into doing this because I wanted to have control over how my bands' music sounded (and also out of a misguided sense that it would be a way to save money). Being part of the DIY punk/hardcore scene in Chicago, what started as something for my own projects morphed into working with my friends to record their bands.
This blog will showcase recordings past present and future that I have worked on; and also will be a place where I document electronics repairs, mods, an info about weird audio gear.
My current home studio goes by the name Secret Chamber.
Downstairs, there's a 130 square foot live room. Upstairs is the control
room featuring a 32 channel Soundtracs console, a bunch of analog effects, and other
gear. Since building it out, this is generally where I do all my recording and mixing, but I am also open to recording on location in people's practice spaces, other venues, etc.
If you want to discuss working with me on a recording project, please use this blog's contact link. If you would like more info on an electronics post, please write a comment and I will do my best to respond.
